Today, a ceremony was held at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology to mark "Sixty years of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology and six decades of development of higher education in Zenica."<\/p>\n

In the presence of representatives of faculties where students in the field of metallurgy are educated from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, management and employees of the University of Zenica, former employees of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, numerous guests and friends, an appropriate festive program was held where the significance of the development of higher education in Zenica, the very beginnings, the creation and work of the first higher education institution in Zenica, back in 1959, and the successes of this faculty, as well as plans for future development, were discussed.<\/p>\n

What all the speakers emphasized today is the importance of metallurgy for all aspects of life and the development of the economy both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the world.<\/p>\n

Prof. Ph.D.Sc. Ilhan Bu\u0161atli\u0107, dean of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, pointed out that it was significant that the then leadership of the city and Bosnia and Herzegovina showed that it had a clear vision of the future, when on October 20, 1959, it was decided to form the Technical College, which later grew to the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials, and today it is the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology. The dean also pointed out that the studies on the formation of two new study departments in the first cycle and one department in the third cycle have passed the adoption procedure at the University of Zenica, and adoption by the Founder is expected soon.<\/p>\n

Regardless of what the future will be for both metallurgy and the Zenica Ironworks, colleagues from the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, during those six decades, have shown how transformation can be carried out and the importance of higher education for both the faculty and the academic community, and he said Bih and beyond - said Prof. Ph.D.Sc. Damir Kuki\u0107, rector of the University of Zenica, who added that this is the way to go in the future as well.<\/p>\n

Those present were also addressed by Prof. Ph.D.Sc. Spahija Kozli\u0107, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, and pointed out that he also started his work as a teacher at this faculty, and wished the faculty successful work in the future.<\/p>\n

In addition, the representatives of the faculties from abroad greeted the attendees and presented appropriate gifts.<\/p>\n
