Zenica, 26.04.2021.<\/u> On Monday, April 26, the second competition for students called "Code Smash" will be held, organized by the Polytechnic Faculty of Zenica and the IT company Softray Solutions. Students will be faced with a new challenge that they will have to solve within a time frame of 12 hours. Due to all the epidemiological measures that must be observed, but also for the safety of the participants, the competition will be organized in an online format, via the Discord platform.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>"The desire to hold the hackathon live was overpowered by the unforeseen circumstances brought about by the pandemic, and precisely in accordance with the current situation, students will be looking for a creative solution on the topic of 'COVID-19: Establishing a vaccination process for the citizens of BiH'". <\/em>said Sabahudin Ja\u0161arevi\u0107, dean of the Polytechnic Faculty, and added: \u00a0"<\/em>For the three best teams, a prize money fund in the total amount of 5,000 KM was provided by the Ministry<\/em>\u00a0for education, science, culture and sport of the Zenica-Doboj canton<\/em>.\u201c<\/p>\n

A total of five teams from the Department of Software Engineering, Zenica Polytechnic Faculty, who previously completed an internship at the IT company Softray Solutions, were registered for the second "Code Smash" hackathon. Students had the opportunity to go through a program based on a real work environment and realistic scenarios, and students were mentored by employees from this company. "We are pleased by the fact that our students will have the opportunity to test their knowledge and skills acquired through their studies, but also during practice in this company, in this competition, creating an idea solution that could have great potential for widespread use, and solve the current problems of our society ", <\/em>said Prof. Ph.D. Samir Leme\u0161, vice dean for scientific research from the Polytechnic Faculty of Zenica.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Testing your own limits<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>With the organizers' desire to enable young programmers at the beginning of their careers to express their talent, resourcefulness in teamwork and most importantly, passion for programming and technology, the main goal of this year's competition is to further contribute to the development of the domestic IT scene.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>When evaluating the idea and solution itself, functionality, user experience and ideas that indicate thinking outside the box will be taken into account, among other things. In order to enable the students to develop the conceptual solution as well as possible, there are mentors, experienced programmers from the Softray Solutions company, who will further guide them with their knowledge and advice, said the COO of the Softray Solutions company, Tijana Tubi\u0107, and added:<\/p>\n

"This competition is an excellent example of cooperation between educational institutions and the real sector on a socially beneficial project. The Code Smash competition is an opportunity to exchange knowledge with fellow students and mentors, and to test the limits of one's own capabilities. Given that we have already had the opportunity to see for ourselves how these young and promising minds think during the course <\/em>professional practices, there is no doubt that the solutions they offer on the given topic will be interesting and what is essentially functional. Although the times we are in are extremely uncertain and challenging, we are trying to find the right ways to maintain and further develop the IT community of our society.<\/em> This continuation of cooperation is of great importance, both for the IT industry and for students who want to stand out in the best possible light with their hard work, and present creative solutions for current problems today.<\/em>.\u201c<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>Although the competition will be organized in an online format, the final award ceremony will still be held live, in the premises of the Polytechnic Faculty, and on that occasion, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the ZDK, Spahija Kozli\u0107, in the presence of the organizers, will present the awards to the winning teams.<\/p>\n
