By organizing a public lecture on the topic "Energy Transition", yesterday in the amphitheater of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology of the University of Zenica, the work of the Center for Energy Efficiency, which was established at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zenica, was made official. After the welcoming address and welcome to those present by the rector of the University of Zenica, Prof. dr. Jusuf Durakovi\u0107, the Center was officially opened by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Prof. Ph.D. Spahija Kozli\u0107. This was followed by lectures. Since, in addition to public affairs, the Center for Energy Efficiency should be a service to the economy and industry, where the University itself has been present for a long time and has significant results and patents in the field of energy efficiency, primarily through practical work and concrete projects led by Mr. prof. dr. Jusuf Durakovic. Professor Durakovi\u0107 is a full professor in the field of thermal engineering at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, University of Zenica. He has published over 30 works, has done dozens of projects and owns his own patents. Therefore, the rector of the University of Zenica r. prof. Ph.D. Jusuf Durakovi\u0107 held the first lecture on Energy Efficiency in Industry.<\/p>\n
Mr. sc. Nihad Harba\u0161 is an external associate of our Center and one of the leading experts in the field of energy, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is on the list of experts in the mentioned fields at the Secretariat of the Energy Community in Vienna. He works on energy sector reform projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina according to EU best practices, and is also involved in projects in the Western Balkans, the EU and beyond. As an expert of the International Agency for Renewable Energy, he participates in solar, wind, hydropower, biomass and biogas projects around the world. He presented to the gathering professional current events and developments in the field of energy with the topic "Energy flows, situation and perspectives in Bosnia and Herzegovina".<\/p>\n
As energy production has its own waste streams, the question undoubtedly arises, does waste, especially solid waste, have energy that can be used? Can we reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfills every day and transform it into energy, which will be used by industry, which would extend the life of the landfill, and provide the industry with cheaper fuel of the required quality. Those questions, among other things, were problematized at today's public session through the topic "Energy potential of waste", prof. Ph.D. Nusret Imamovi\u0107. Nusret Imamovi\u0107 is an associate professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zenica and has so far published over 35 scientific and professional papers and implemented over 50 professional, research and development projects. He is an authorized designer and court expert, and holds a Federal license for performing energy inspections and issuing certificates of complex buildings. The professor is also the director of the Center for Energy Efficiency.<\/p>\n
After that, the lecture was held by Edin Berberovi\u0107, associate professor at the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Zenica. He received his doctorate from the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany. He deals with calculations and computer simulations of fluid flow and heat transfer relevant in the energy sector. Since today there is no development and analysis of any technical system, and thus no solution in the field of energy, without the creation of test models and simulation of their operation in given circumstances, Professor Berberovi\u0107 explained to the attendees the importance of these tools and scientific methods through a presentation under entitled "Application of computer simulations in energy", which are directly collinear with today's energy efficiency trends and the main theme of "Energy Transition", all in the context of the available capacities of the University of Zenica.<\/p>\n
Since a significant part of the facilities and equipment of the University of Zenica is the subject of concrete energy efficiency measures with tangible and visible benefits, which are a seal that the right steps have been taken in the given times behind us, and are also a springboard and tailwind for new feats of the same energetic genre. Important details regarding those projects and accompanying information were presented by Mr. MSc. Dino Eminovi\u0107 in the topic "Projects and measures of energy efficiency at the University of Zenica". Dino Eminovi\u0107 has a degree in mechanical engineering and is an authorized expert in the field of energy efficiency at the Federal Ministry of Spatial Planning, he is a member of the Center for Energy Efficiency and holds the position of director of the Student Center of the University of Zenica in his second term.<\/p>\n
After that, the rector of the University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Durakovi\u0107 handed over the Letter of Intent to the representative of the UNDP Office, Mr. Hamdija Mujezin, for the preparation of Feasibility Study documentation for the realization of the project of the University of Zenica's own heating plant using heat pumps, for which the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton gave the necessary prior consent.
