Tuzla, 12.11.2025. \u2013 \u201cSmart Energy for the Future Generation\u201d was the topic that brought together students from Tuzla and Zenica to discuss how young people understand renewable energy, how they see their role in a society that accepts energy challenges and devises innovative solutions in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency. During the event organized by the European Union in BiH, it was discussed how young people can contribute to building a sustainable energy future for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event began with a minute of silence for the victims of the recent fire in the Pensioners' Home in Tuzla.<\/p>\n

The Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, Ambassador of Germany Alfred Grannas, Ambassador of Denmark \u00c5ge Sandal M\u00f8ller, Ambassador of France Francois Delmas, Ambassador of Greece Ioanna Efthymiadou and Ambassador of Sweden Helena Lagerl\u00f6f, in their addresses to the students, highlighted the importance of sustainable energy and innovation in the context of European integration.<\/p>\n

"Through the GenChange program, we want to empower students in BiH to become drivers of the changes necessary for Bosnia and Herzegovina to be successful in the future. In addition to the green and digital transition, there are several other changes that need to be implemented. The conversations we are having today - on energy efficiency, renewable energy and decarbonization, will help us shape a cleaner, more sustainable and competitive future for all. The EU is happy to stand with BiH on this path - supporting reforms, investments and new opportunities that bring the country closer to the EU family," emphasized Ambassador Soreca.<\/p>\n

The event in Tuzla, organized in partnership with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Tuzla and the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of the University of Zenica, focused on the current challenges of the energy transition. During the panel discussion \u201cSmart Energy for the Future Generation\u201d, students discussed innovative approaches to renewable energy, energy efficiency and the active role of youth in shaping a sustainable energy future for Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n

Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Tuzla, Majda Te\u0161anovi\u0107, highlighted the importance of initiatives such as Student Talks, which bring together young people from all over the country, providing them with the opportunity to exchange ideas and visions regarding the European future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She also expressed her satisfaction with the fact that they hosted colleagues from Zenica and emphasized that dialogue and understanding are the foundations of social progress.<\/p>\n

"Smart energy means responsible use of resources and investing in solutions that do not harm the environment. Our generation must be the one to initiate changes because we will live with the consequences of today's decisions. I believe that through knowledge and innovation we can build a sustainable future," said the President of the Student Association of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of the University of Zenica, Amra Mehanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n

The Student Talks series within the Generation Change program will continue in Mostar. The initiative continues to connect young people from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina through dialogue, exchange of opinions and co-creation of ideas that shape the future of the country. The most successful participants will be invited to participate in media trainings, while the most creative ones will have the opportunity to visit Brussels next year to present their ideas on the European stage.<\/p>\n
