On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the premises of the Faculty of Economics and Law of the University of Zenica, a round table was held on the topic "Current issues of work and development of the University of Zenica".<\/em> <\/strong>At the round table, in addition to the representatives of the University of Zenica, that is, the rector, Prof. Dr.Sc. Damir Kuki\u0107, vice-rector, dean and director of the University of Zenica, and representatives of the founders, i.e. Government of Zenica - Doboj canton headed by Mr. Miralem Galija\u0161evi\u0107, Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Mrs. Zahida \u0160i\u0161i\u0107, Head of the Prime Minister's Office, Mr. Mensur Sinanovi\u0107, Minister of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and Mr. \u017deljko Bodul, assistant for higher education. In addition to the above, the participants were also representatives of the economy, first of all Mr. Mirsad Ja\u0161arspahi\u0107, vice president of the FBiH Chamber of Commerce, Mr. \u0160efkija Botonji\u0107, president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, and representatives of business entities of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.<\/p>\n

The rector and vice-rectors of the University of Zenica presented the work of the University of Zenica to those present, each from their own field of work, and pointed out the advantages and disadvantages, identified problems and indicated possible solutions to them. After the presentations, a very interesting discussion followed, and it was concluded that:<\/p>\n

The University of Zenica is one of the important subjects of the current and future overall development of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, and has become a modern and respected higher education institution included in the common academic space of Europe and the world. It is necessary to enable faster changes and additions to existing curricula, as well as the creation of double-subject studies and study programs in foreign languages. One of the opportunities for development is reflected in the introduction of new study programs in accordance with the demand on the labor market.<\/p>\n

One of the most important issues for the development of the University of Zenica is the issue of enrollment of new students and employment of graduates. In the last few years, a trend of decreasing enrollment in the first year of studies at the University of Zenica has been observed, although this is a phenomenon that other universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region are also facing. In the coming period, the University of Zenica will undertake a series of activities to stop this trend.<\/p>\n

When it comes to scientific research work at the University of Zenica, in the coming period, additional efforts must be made to strengthen scientific research and development-investment work in accordance with the real needs of the wider social community and the current state of science in the world. The management of the University, together with the representatives of the Founders and competent authorities, should find ways for a far greater degree of scientific research and commercial exploitation of all the potential that the University has.<\/p>\n

Also, it is necessary to provide scholarships for a larger number of students, to consider the possibility of scholarships from own funds, and it is necessary to find ways to carry out recruitment activities of the best students and to create special programs for carrying out internships with companies with which the University cooperates.<\/p>\n

In addition to the above, it is necessary to improve the infrastructural capacities in order to create optimal working conditions for students, then it is necessary to develop a strategy for the development of scientific research activities and to improve the informative and promotional activities of the University of Zenica.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
