Briefly about the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT) was founded in 2008 as a research and development agency of the European Union with the aim of encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in sectors of strategic importance to the European Union. The operational units of the EIT are community of knowledge and innovation<\/strong> (Knowledge and Innovation Community), which have the role of connecting industry and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs with research centers and higher education institutions from priority sectors. EIT is part of the HORIZON 2020 program and is financed by the European Commission.<\/p>\n

The knowledge and innovation community EIT RawMaterials was founded in 2015 and is the largest consortium in the mineral non-energy raw materials sector in the world. The consortium consists of 125 partners from more than 20 EU countries, one third of which are academic institutions, one third research institutes and one third companies. EIT RawMaterials is operationally divided into six collocation centers (CLCs), and the University of Zagreb belongs to CLC East based in Wroclaw, Poland. The mission of EIT RawMaterials is to increase the competitiveness and encourage the sustainable growth of the European sector of non-energy mineral raw materials with the aim of safely supplying the European Union industry along the entire value chain. The programs and projects developed by the members of the EIT RawMaterials consortium are aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship, the development of new technologies and innovative solutions, and the development of educational programs at all levels.<\/p>\n

      Project description <\/strong><\/p>\n

      After decades of falling commodity prices, negative investment trends, debates over mining laws and increased overall risks, mining companies are struggling to survive in search of new sustainable investment opportunities. The InvestRM project will create a decision-making tool for raw materials processing companies and investors, mining institutes, technical universities, geological research companies, non-governmental organizations, BiH authorities and state institutions, in order to facilitate investments in the raw materials sector. The project is focused on Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the potential of critical raw materials, but it will be entirely in other countries of Eastern and Southeastern Europe (eSEE). The project will deliver structured country data (entity based) along with relevant and validated geographic information on 120 critical raw materials deposits and occurrences within BiH: antimony, bauxite (as a potential source of rare earth elements - Ree), fluorite and magnesite. One of the special tasks is the establishment of a constructive dialogue with a minimum of 40 BiH small and medium-sized enterprises and large enterprises throughout Banja Luka, Prijedor, Tuzla and Zenica, an info-day in order to tailor the decision-making functions of InvestRM. The project is supported by five key Bosnia-Herzegovina mining institutions (Mining Institute Banja Luka, Mining Institute Prijedor, Mining Institute Tuzla, Institute for Urban Planning, Construction and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, University of Zenica) and supported by internationally recognized institutions Montanuniversitaet Leoben, University of Zagreb \u2013 Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum, Geological Survey of Slovenia and Cemex Croatia.<\/p>\n

      The role of the "Kemal Kapetanovi\u0107" Institute of the University of Zenica <\/strong><\/p>\n

      1. Performing tasks 2.2. Social package and 2.4. Geological package under RP2 for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina;<\/p>\n

      2. Updating and maintaining the online model (social \/ geology for FBiH);<\/p>\n

      3. Provision of services for industry and research (task 4.4 FBiH);<\/p>\n

      4. Delegation of one person to the InvestRM Management Board;<\/p>\n

      5. Organization of the info day in Zenica,<\/p>\n

      Project work plan (first year) <\/strong><\/p>\n

      The work plan for the first year of project implementation (2018) is divided into four work packages (RP1, RP2, WP 3 and WP5).<\/p>\n

      RP1 Project management <\/strong><\/p>\n

      (2) project meetings held quarterly or monthly to ensure effective implementation of the project.<\/p>\n
