Traditionally, all-day practical classes in the two most important business systems in Kakanj are organized in the summer semester for students of the third year of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of UNZE. This was also the case on May 21, 2019, when practical classes were held at RMU Kakanj and TE Kakanj. The practical classes began with a visit and a lecture on the state of mining technologies and the role of maintenance at the Surface Mine Whirlpool RMU Kakanj. Students had the opportunity to hear about the present moment of RMU Kakanj, the relationship between surface and pit exploitation, levels of mechanization and investments in the mining sector, expansion plans and expected trends in this important area for each country. After the lecture in the directorate of the surface mine, the students saw part of the machinery and equipment of this mine and the resources used in the maintenance of the equipment in this part of the mine. The students expressed a special interest in large transport trucks (dumpers) in surface mines with a load capacity of 100-130 tons, ways of their exploitation and maintenance. After the Mine, a visit was made to TE Kakanj, which is also part of the large business system of Elektroprivreda BiH. This was followed by a detailed introduction to the state and perspectives of the development of this large energy facility (M.Sc. Dino Tica) and the functioning of the Kakanj Thermal Power Plant. Accompanied by the host, the students first visited the old facilities and blocks I-IV, then block V in operation and VI, which is undergoing a minor overhaul. Since the 230 MW unit is undergoing overhaul, the students had the opportunity to see parts of the plant that are not accessible during normal operation. The students were accompanied by the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Darko Petkovi\u0107, and assistant professor Kasim Bajramovi\u0107, Ph.D., Mustafa Had\u017eali\u0107, Ph.D. and asst.
