The UNIGEM project, that is, the project of introducing gender-aware policies in higher education, is a new project in which the University of Zenica also participates, as the only higher education institution in the Zenica-Doboj canton. The coordinator of the project is the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo, and support for the implementation is provided by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n
In the month of November, within the aforementioned project, the Center for Gender Equality was established at the University of Zenica. Ph.D. sc. Larisa Veli\u0107, Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Zenica.<\/p>\n
Special emphasis was placed on student activities that marked the global campaign against gender-based violence, 16 Days of Activism. Five student activities were carried out, involving approximately 200 students of the University of Zenica.<\/p>\n
In the activities, different methodological means and ways were used in order to bring this topic as close as possible to male and female students, and to finally start talking and discussing the unfortunately everyday situations of gender-based violence that surround us without any fear or stigma.<\/p>\n
The first realized activity was "Students for Female Students", where gender relations and the problem of gender-based violence were discussed through various types of literary works and modern poems, the second activity was "Educational Exhibition", which emphasized gender-based violence through thematic images. . The third activity called "Ribbon for raising awareness" was reflected in the distribution of orange ribbons to students, teachers and all employees of the University of Zenica. The ribbons served as an extremely good tool to present the 16 Days of Activism campaign to everyone individually. An extremely important activity is also a visit to the Association "Medica" Zenica and the safe house in Zenica, especially due to the fact that it is one of the few safe houses in Bosnia and Herzegovina with its extremely long and rich history.
\nThe last activity was realized on the International Human Rights Day, 10.12.2021. entitled "Why are we doing this?" and thus officially concluded the campaign of 16 days of activism, but not the fight for equality and a life without gender-based violence.<\/p>\n
