22.10.2021. CIP AND MF UNZE: VISIT TO ARTUKLU MARDIN UNIVERSITY, TURKEY

In an effort to expand the international cooperation that CIP UNZE has, a visit to Artuklu Mardin University in the far east of Turkey was arranged. Mardin Artoklu University (MAU) (https://www.artuklu.edu.tr) was founded in 2007 as an expression of the efforts of the region of Mesopotamia and the city of Mardin to continue the intensive development that has roots for more than 4000 years and represents the link between Turkey and the Middle in the east of Asia. In nearby Nusaybin, the first Christian Assyrian Academy was established by Mor Yakup of Nusaybin, known as Ümmü'l-Ulum (Mother of Wisdom) and Medinetu'l-Maarif (City of Education). Mor Yakup Monastery, located in Nusaybin, is one of the first educational universities in the world where philosophy, logic, literature, geometry, astronomy, medicine and law were studied. The wealth of knowledge and wisdom possessed by Nisibis Academy and Deyrulzafaran, great schools such as Kasımiye, Zinciriye and Medresâ Sor formed the basis for the establishment of MAU. The first faculties were the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, the State Conservatory, the Institute of Health and Professional Studies in Health. Since 2009, there have been Turkish language and literature, in 2010 he began his studies at the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism. Today, in 2021, MAU has faculties of literature, Islamic sciences, economics and administration, fine arts, architecture, tourism and health sciences. There are also institutes for the Turkish language, natural and social sciences. A rich social life is accompanied by a modern library, laboratories and IT rooms, health care, accommodation facilities, sports infrastructure and other facilities harmoniously integrated into the large campus. The university has two campuses and several buildings in the city center and several colleges in 5 districts around Mardin. More than 9,000 students study at the university, educated by several hundred professors and assistants. The memorandum on cooperation (so-called MoU) between UNZE and MAU was signed by the rectors Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Ozcošar and Prof. Dr. Jusuf Duraković. In the talks of the host with MAU and the director of CIP UNZE, Prof. Dr. Darko Petković, there was talk about the modalities and areas of cooperation and the planned joint applications to Erasmus+ and other programs.
