07.10.2019. MF UNZE: START OF STUDIES AT THE NEW DEPARTMENT OF STUDY
After many years of preparation for the start of the Design and Technologies in Wood Processing (DTD) study, it started on October 7, 2019. with the solemn address of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Fuad Hadžikadunić, Vice-Dean, Amra Talić-Čikmiš, and Darko Petković, Head of the DTD study. In the modern ambience of a completely new lecture hall equipped with the help of several BH companies (Prevent Interior, Team Wood, Standard and AL EX), 20 first-year students carefully listened to the introductory presentations before the first lectures began. Of course, the opening of a new department is not identical to the beginning of the work of a new faculty, but for MF UNZE this is a very significant event because after a 60-year tradition of studying the production of ferrous and non-ferrous metals at MTF, 42 years of a tradition of studying mainly metalworking technologies and mechanical engineering at MF , of economic engineering at PtF, entered a new field in which organic material will be dominantly studied: wood in all its forms, types and modifications. MF UNZE approached the establishment of this study very carefully: over the years, a network of partners has been built in the region (Forestry Faculties in Belgrade, Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Podgorica, art academies/faculties in Sarajevo, Podgorica and Novi Sad), in EU countries and beyond (universities in Rosenheim, OWL Hannover, Biel, Porto, Trieste-Pordenone, Sopron, etc.). In the last few years, several laboratories have been equipped which, along with the existing resources of the MF UNZE and other faculties of UNZE, will represent a solid basis for the quality implementation of the teaching process (LIND laboratory for testing wood products, IDEA_lab for product development, FabLab for learning about processes and materials, Lab for CNC technologies in woodworking, etc.). And not the least significant was the excellent cooperation with companies in the region of ZDK and SBK, which even before the establishment of the department were the base for professional visits and the preparation of graduate theses of candidates, and above all MS Wood Fojnica, Tamex Busovača, FIS Ambienta Vitez, Palavra veneers Bila, Nobil Nova Bila, Artisani Process Tešanj, SECOM and Prevent Interior Visoko and others. Already on the second day of classes on October 8, 2019. students attended training in the LIND laboratory on the topic: Procedures for testing school furniture. This already emphasizes the direction in which this study will develop, which is the closer connection with the business sector in the development of knowledge, skills and competences for a higher degree of finalization of products made of wood and related materials (stone, wood, glass, steel, etc.) which in the following years should lead this study to a dual study model.
