Ambassador Sattler and students on a greener future

More than a hundred students of the University of Zenica participated in a discussion with the EU ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, about the prospects for a green future in Bosnia and

"Drive the Change: How Can You Contribute to a Greener Future?" was the topic of a debate by students of the Mechanical and Metallurgical Technology Faculty of the University of Zenica, in which Ambassador Johann Sattler, Head of the European Union Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH participated.

- Young people with their skills and will to change should be the leading force of a just transition to a low-carbon, environmentally and socially sustainable economy. That is the reason why we are here today - we want to hear the opinions of young people on this topic and hear firsthand how the EU can help them - said Ambassador Sattler.

Yesterday's event officially launched the project of the European Union in BiH "Generation Change", which in the next two months at state universities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina will provide young people with a platform to express their opinions on important topics, to connect with peers from other faculties and with representatives EU and young professionals from BiH discuss issues relevant to BiH's path to the EU.

- It is important that a young person knows that he should not wait for changes, but be the initiator of changes. Everyone can do a little in their domain, which can mean a lot for our country and environment. There are many opportunities, especially in the green economy segment, where I can find my chance, my passion and define a niche of activity. The international community provides unselfish financial and every other form of support - said Sema Čorbo-Lindov, an activist in the field of economy and environmental protection, to the students.

For Ahira Mešić, a third-year student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zenica, the reason for coming to the debate was to learn more about the topic, but also because she believes that "the green and European future of our country is the only sustainable one".

The event ended with an invitation to students to network and apply for the next phase of the #GenChange project, and get the opportunity to be part of the winning team that will visit Brussels this summer.
