The Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina is pleased to announce the Fulbright Program for Teaching Excellence and Achievement for Academic 2024/2025 year. The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (Fulbright TEA) is sponsored by the US Department of State's Bureau of Education and Culture. The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 under a law introduced by former US Senator William Fulbright of Arkansas. Fulbright Scholarships are awarded to students, scholars, teachers, and other professionals from the United States and foreign nationals to study, teach, or conduct research. Since its establishment 1946. years, more than 400.000 "Fulbrights" participated in the Fulbright program.
Requirements for the application to the Fulbright Program of Excellence and Achievement in Teaching
- BH citizenship with a valid travel document (passport),
- He is currently a secondary level, full-time teacher of English, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Mathematics, Science, Foreign Languages, Social Studies, Journalism, Communication and Special Education in institutions that serve primarily the local population,
- Interested candidates from Bosnia and Herzegovina should have at least 3 years of regular work experience in teaching since the beginning of the program, with preference given to candidates who have 5 years of work experience in teaching,
- Interested candidates should have at least a "bachelor" level of higher education at the time of sending the application,
- Interested candidates should possess a high level of knowledge of the English language, which is adequate for teaching, creating lesson plans and teamwork in schools in the USA. Applicants must be able to demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving a minimum score of at least 61 on the Internet-based TOEFL or an approved equivalent. At the initial application stage, applicants are not required to register for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or submit additional documentation. If a valid TOEFL score report is available, it should be uploaded to the online application. Only finalists must have a valid TOEFL score, and there are no exceptions to this requirement. The Embassy will only provide finalists with registration instructions and test vouchers,
- Candidates must have a medical certificate to participate in this program (finalists only),
- Applicants are required to be able to obtain and maintain a “J-1 Nonimmigrant Visa,” which is required for this program,
- Also, candidates are required to be committed to returning to Bosnia and Herzegovina after at least two years of participation in this program.

Online application documents
Interested candidates from Bosnia and Herzegovina should attach the following documents in online format:
- Completed application form,
- A statement of purpose that is consistent with the questions included in the application form,
- Institutional support form and reference completed by the applicant's supervisor (There is a section within the application application that requires applicants to print the Form. Applicants should then upload the completed Form and forward it to the same section of the application to be considered successfully filled in. The application system will not allow you to enter your application yourself without loading the ISRF),
- Interested candidates should submit a form related to the approval, which is filled out by the school director (Candidates should upload the completed form as part of the online application),
- A copy of the applicant's passport photo and passport information page (or photo identification),
- If applicants have recent TOEFL test scores, they should be included in the application, (TOEFL is not required at the time of application, but if the applicant is selected as a finalist, current TOEFL scores will be required from the applicant. The Embassy will provide information on registration and vouchers for finalists who need to take the TOEFL test).
