AGREED COOPERATION BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY OF ZENICA AND ACRONI STEEL PLANT FROM SLOVENIA

Prof. Ph.D.Sc. Jusuf Duraković, rector of the University of Zenica, met today in his office with representatives of the ironworks Acroni Jesenice from the Republic of Slovenia. This meeting is very important both for the University of Zenica and for the Acroni ironworks, because through the agreed cooperation significant results will be achieved, both for the University of Zenica and for the economy of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.

"Until now, we have had extremely good cooperation with universities in Slovenia, and this is the beginning of a more intensive cooperation with the economy in the Republic of Slovenia. Today we discussed two topics:

 The first topic is the project of acquiring new materials at our Institute in semi-industrial conditions so that it could be applied in Jesenice in industrial conditions. The second topic is a very important project, and it is about the visit of engineers and technicians from the Acroni ironworks and training at our Institute in terms of metallographic and mechanical tests, because they are in a way depleted of staff. We believe that at our Institute "Kemal Kapetanović" there is equipment and staff that can help their people. This is a good opportunity to realize my program that I created during the application for the position of rector", said Prof. Ph.D. Jusuf Duraković, rector of the University of Zenica.

dr. Gorazo Kosec, director for quality and development of the Acroni ironworks, said: "We started doing some test series a few years ago and the results of that cooperation were good, and now we want to expand the cooperation because now the price of alloys is high, and we don't have a test site for production of small melts. The training of new engineers is also important for us, because here they can gain knowledge and experience that will make a great contribution to the characterization of materials in our company."
