PROMOTION OF DEMOCRATIC VALUES

AND ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP AMONG YOUTH

For the ninth year in a row, Humanity in Action BiH organizes the project "Encouraging democratic values and active citizenship among young people", with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The program is focused on the transfer of knowledge about democratic principles and human rights, stimulating critical thinking about sensitive issues in society, and encouraging the development of participants' communication and research skills.

The invitation primarily refers to students of the first and second year of undergraduate studies at all higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but applications from students of higher years will also be taken into consideration.

The program consists of the following components:

>> Nine-day educational program in Sarajevo (December 12-20, 2020) primarily aims to impart knowledge about different models of democracy, democratic values, basic postulates of active citizenship and democratic political culture, human rights, nationalism and identity, and youth activism.

>> Individual research (December 2020 - February 2021) will enable the participants to research an issue of their interest, which in a broader sense refers to the existing obstacles that prevent the effective participation of young people in their communities, i.e. the application of discrimination or violations of the human rights of young people.

>> Three-day training in Neum (March 2021) is an opportunity to present research and develop skills in the field of project and financial management.

>> Implementation of group projects (April - June 2021) with the application of knowledge and skills acquired in the previous phases of the program.

>> Promotion of the results of group projects (July – August 2021) in the media and local communities where they were implemented.

>> Closing ceremony in Sarajevo (September 2021) with the awarding of certificates and the presentation of realized projects.

All costs are borne by the organizer.
