IN MEMORIAM: Prof. Dr.Sc. Salih Jalimam

Prof. Ph.D.Sc. Salih Jalimam died on Friday in Sarajevo, after a short and serious illness. He was born in Zenica on September 30, 1951. He finished elementary school and high school in his hometown. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of History in Sarajevo, where he graduated on February 11, 1975 with the subject of the Bosnian Church in the 15th century (on the example of the testament of guest Radin).

He received his master's degree on May 24, 1982, with the subject Meeting of Franciscans and Dominicans on the territory of the medieval Bosnian state. He received his doctorate in Tuzla on November 23, 1998, defending his doctoral dissertation under the title Dominican activity in medieval Bosnia. He worked in primary and secondary school, the Museum of the City of Zenica and in the Center of Military Schools of the RBiH Army. He taught medieval history at the Faculty of Philosophy in Tuzla, the Faculty of Pedagogy in Bihać, the Faculty of Humanities in Mostar and the Faculty of Pedagogy in Zenica.

From October 1, 2005, he was engaged at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica at the Department: History of the State and Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was the dean of the Faculty of Law in Zenica (until December 24, 2009) and the head of the Department of History of the State and Law and the President of the Postgraduate Studies Council at the Faculty of Law in Zenica (until December 24, 2009).

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Zenica and the Senate of the University, a member of the Senate of the Bosniak Institute, the Council of BZK "Preporod" Sarajevo. He was a member of the Editorial Board of the Yearbook of the Society of Historians of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Gračanica Glasnik and the magazine Stav, the editor-in-chief of the Proceedings of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Social Research.

To the position of senior assistant, narrower scientific field: History of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Middle Ages, elected on 11.11. 1996 (Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla) and as assistant professor, teaching and research area History of the medieval Bosnian state 22 February 1999 (Faculty of Philosophy, University of Tuzla). He was elected to the teaching-scientific position of associate professor for the scientific field: Historical Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica on January 25, 2006. He was a full-time professor from January 28, 2011 (Faculty of Law and Philosophy of the University of Zenica) and the Faculty of Humanities. University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar.

Jalimam wrote a large number of works on the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The field of scientific interest is wide. He achieved the best results in the field of religious events in medieval Bosnia, especially writing about the Bogomils, Franciscans and Dominicans, and about the history of Zenica. He participated with papers at several international scientific gatherings and conferences.

Commemoration on the occasion of the death of Prof. Ph.D. Saliha Jalimama will be held tomorrow, 28.04.2019. (Sunday) starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica.
