Last greetings to Prof. Dr. Uzeir Mehmedić

Friends, work colleagues and employees of the University of Zenica said goodbye to Prof. dr. Uzeir Mehmedić. The commemoration was held in the premises of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology.

Prof. dr. Uzeir Mehmedić was born in 1939 in Zenica, where he completed his high school education in 1959. As a pioneer and youth, he was involved in sports gymnastics, and this had a significant impact on his study commitment. He finished high school for physical education in Belgrade, and after that he started his career in Zenica, working in several secondary schools. From 1973 he was employed at the Faculty of Metallurgy.

In addition to professional and conscientious performance of work tasks, prof. Mehmedić was also active in the sports life of Zenica, Zenica-Doboj Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He served as president of the Gymnastics Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Gymnastics Club "Zenica", the Municipal Sports Association of Zenica, and was a member of the BiH Olympic Committee. In addition, Prof. dr. Uzeir Mehmedić also held the position of president of the Society of Physical Education Pedagogues in Zenica, as well as president of the University Sports Association of Students and coordinator for the "Small Olympic Games" of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.

Under the leadership of this pedagogue and sports worker, the students recorded the best results at sports events (Technology Games, Mechanical Games, Universiade).

Prof. Ph.D.Sc. Uzeir Mehmedić is the recipient of numerous awards, of which we highlight: Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007, May Award of BiH in 1982, Gold Badge of SOFK of BiH in 1975 and Zenica Twelfth of April Award in 1972.
