ON THE OCCASION OF THE DAY OF THE KINGDOM OF BOSNIA, THE RECTOR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZENIKA WAS PRESENTED WITH A REPLICA OF THE CHARTER OF THE COMPANY AND KOTROMANIĆ

On the occasion of the coronation of Tvrtko I Kotromanić on October 26, 1377, the last ban and the first king of the medieval state of Bosnia, which elevated Bosnia from the medieval Banovina to the rank of Kingdom, today the rector of the University of Zenica, Prof. dr. Jusuf Duraković and the chairman of the Senate of the University Prof. dr. Larisa Velić was visited by the president of BZK "Preporod" Zenica, Prof. Dr. Ajdin Huseinspahić.

On that occasion, in front of Zenica's "Revival", the umbrella academic institution in the area of Zenica-Doboj Canton was presented with a valuable replica of the Charter of Tvrtko I Kotromanić, in its original size, which is a symbol of Bosnian statehood and the compactness of its territory. The charter was issued on April 10 in Dubrovnik, and certified on June 17, 1378 at the royal court in Trstivnica. Since the administrative center of the Kingdom of Bosnia was located in the area of today's Visočka-Kakanjska-Zenica region, this symbolic gift aims to awaken national pride and turn to the bright parts of our glorious history, turning to the principles of courage and wisdom that adorned the first Bosnian king.

It is precisely from the relationship of Tvrtko I towards the state of Bosnia as his crown land, which he ruled sovereignly and from which he expanded his power over Raška and Primorje, that we can draw many messages in order to make the best possible use of all comparative advantages like Tvrtko, who used his own origin to expand his state (referring to his grandmother Jelisaveta Nemanjić in order to rule Raška/Srblje or to his mother Jelena Šubić in how he controlled Primorje-Split, Trogir, Hvar, Brač, Korčula...), and who maneuvered very wisely between different religions, Eastern Orthodoxy, Catholics with the West and the preservation of the paternalism of the "good Bosnians" and the Bosnian Church as an unavoidable, but at the same time unobtrusive factor from within that greatly contributed to the survival of the state of Bosnia itself.

Therefore, October 26 is the most important date in the medieval history of Bosnia because it confirms the continuity of Bosnian statehood and opens the door to its unforced expansion in all fields of socio-political activity. , with principle and courage, as if the good Bosnian Tvrtko wanted to tell us today what we should be when it comes to our relationship with the state and its institutions.
