Plaques of the Rector's Conference of public universities in BiH to deserving individuals
The University of Zenica (UNZE), which last month took over the chairmanship of the Rectors' Conference/Assembly of Public Universities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RK/ZBiH) from the University of Bihać, today hosted the first working and ceremonial session of this body.
As noted by the rector of UNZE, prof. Ph.D. sc. Damir Kukić, who presided over today's sessions, in the working part, they analyzed and exchanged information about the conduct of classes in the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic, but also tried to find the best solutions, which everyone can "apply for the improvement of classes at the universities of Bosnia and Herzegovina".
- We also considered the initiative, initiated by the RK/ZBiH, for amendments to the framework Law on Higher Education of BiH. The goal is to improve the quality of teaching and increase the degree of autonomy of public universities, that is, higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina in general - noted Kukić.
They concluded that, at the time of the coronavirus pandemic, the combined teaching model - online and traditional - proved to be excellent.
- We insist on it. We also insist on cooperation, exchange of teachers, in accordance with the memorandum we signed as RK/ZBiH, but in accordance with the law.
The goal is to improve teaching at all universities, and we also encourage the implementation of practical exercises in health institutions, in order to ensure the quality of the teaching process at medical faculties - emphasized Kukić.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Ph.D.Sc. Radoslav Gajanin pointed out that they concluded that they support the engagement of all public universities in BiH and teachers, that is, the mutual exchange of teachers and associates of all public universities in BiH.
- This, in a way, enables smooth and reliable work, especially in teaching, that is, the teaching process - emphasized the Gajanin.
The University of Banja Luka, Gajanin notes, and after the summer semester of the last academic year ended online, by the decision of the Senate, it realized the winter semester of this academic year in the classic way.
-Students and teachers, in compliance with all epidemiological measures, returned to the amphitheatres. I must say that we are really satisfied, because we concluded, based on monitoring the epidemiological situation at the university, that, practically, there was no transmission of the virus in the academic community.
The number of those who tested positive for the corona virus has been permanently decreasing - Gajanin points out, which, he says, was reported at the Senate session at the end of January.
Former president of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, prof. Ph.D. sc. Miloš Trifković, who is one of the laureates of the RK/ZBiH Plaque, which is awarded to those deserving of exceptional contribution to the development and spreading of the reputation of universities in BiH, pointed out that "without a good university, there is no good academy".
-The reverse is also true. The academy is the one that moves the best staff at the university forward, and since 2015 we have had a platform for cooperation with universities, and when the RK/ZBiH accepted us, as an associate member for science issues, we continuously participate in the work of the RK.
Connecting in the field of science is extremely important, because about 77-78 percent of all scientists, scientific and research workers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, come from universities - notes Trifković.
Apart from Academician Trifković, prof. Ph.D. sc. Dženana Gačo, prof. Ph.D. sc. Milan Kulić, prof. Ph.D. sc. Rajko Kuzmanović, prof. Ph.D. sc. Fuad Ćatović, prof. Ph.D. sc. Vlado Majstorović, prof. Ph.D. sc. Mitar Novaković, prof. Ph.D. sc. dr. hc Sabahudin Ekinović and posthumously prof. Ph.D. sc. Stefan Sunaric.
