PRESS RELEASE - Reaction to the public statement of Prof. Dr. Dženan Skelić

Following inquiries sent to the University of Zenica following the public statement of Professor of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica, Dr. Dženan Skelić, the University of Zenica reacts with deep regret and indignation to the statement of the aforementioned professor, who insulted and belittled the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina on social networks.

Such statements represent a gross violation of the dignity of the academic community, are contrary to the fundamental moral and ethical values of the University, and offend the religious feelings of employees and citizens of our country. The University of Zenica is condemns and strongly condemns such an inappropriate public appearance professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zenica.

The University of Zenica fosters a culture of dialogue, respect for diversity, and public responsibility, and believes that academic freedom can never be an excuse for hate speech, insults, or disrespect for any religious or social community.

We expect all members of the academic community to preserve the reputation of the University through their public activities, respect basic civilized norms, and contribute to building a society based on mutual respect and the dignity of every human being.

The University of Zenica will consider all necessary actions to sanction this and similar actions that damage the reputation and social mission of our institution.
