CONTRACT SIGNED FOR PROCUREMENT OF SERVICES FOR CREATING A REGISTER OF HOME BOILERS

The Rectorate of the University of Zenica today held a ceremonial signing of the contract for the procurement of services for the creation of a register of home fireplaces in the Zenica-Doboj Canton. After conducting a public procurement procedure for services worth 330,000 KM, the Consortium Ceteor doo, E3 doo and GDI doo was selected as the best bidder.

The contract was signed by Prof. Jusuf Duraković, Rector of the University of Zenica, and Vedad Suljić, representative of the Consortium.

The signing ceremony was attended by ministers in the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Adnan Šabani, Minister of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection and his advisor Armin Mujkić, Samir Šibonjić, Minister of the Ministry of Economy, and Prof. Dr. Alaudin Brkić, Director of the Kemal Kapetanović Institute and M.Sc. Halim Prcanović, Head of the Environmental Center at the Kemal Kapetanović Institute.

"This is an extremely important project for the University and for the Zenica-Doboj Canton. On this occasion, I would like to thank the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, which provided funds for the development of this project," said Prof. Jusuf Duraković, Rector of the University of Zenica. Measuring stations installed in the city of Zenica, but also in other cities in the Canton, show extremely poor air quality. "This is now an opportunity for us to obtain accurate information through this project about which combustion plants we have, what is used as a heating medium, what capacities each small combustion plant has, because these small stationary sources have a huge impact on air quality in all environments and in every city in the Zenica-Doboj Canton." - emphasized the Rector.

Minister Samir Šibonjić wished much success in the implementation of this project, and emphasized that the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton is committed to investments when it comes to green energy and the air itself in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, and he was especially pleased to emphasize that Zenica will have a list of the largest polluters, and based on that, the Government will be able to take appropriate measures.

Prof. Dr. Alaudin Brkić, Director of the Kemal Kapetanović Institute, particularly thanked the relevant ministry and Minister Adnan Šabani for allocating significant funds for the implementation of this project, which will certainly contribute in the future to securing significant financial resources from international financial institutions related to the reduction of CO2 emissions and other gases, given the fact of pollution and certain indicators that are often presented regarding the increase in human mortality, and are related to air pollution.

"I am pleased that we signed this contract today. This is a very important project that will give us a way forward in which we will solve the problem of air quality in the Zenica-Doboj Canton. What is important is that this registry is operational as soon as possible and that we start implementing our further activities," said Minister Adnan Šabani.

The deadline for creating a register of home fireplaces is twelve months from the date of signing the contract.
