Successfully held SMEQA workshop in Zenica: "Data collection and statistical processing - at the institutional and study program level"

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ project Strengthening capacities and mechanisms for improving the quality assurance system in higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina – SMEKA, November 27, 2025. In 2018, a successful workshop entitled “Data collection and statistical processing – at the institutional and study program level”.

The workshop brought together representatives of higher education institutions, ministries and quality assurance agencies, with the aim of strengthening capacities for collecting, processing and using data for the purpose of improving quality in higher education.

In the introductory part, the participants were addressed by Prof. Dr. Hasan Avdušinović on behalf of the University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Enes Hašić, Director of the Agency for the Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance (HEA), and Prof. Dr. Malik Čabaravdić as the coordinator of the SMEQA project. The introductory part highlighted the importance, goals and expected results of the workshop.

The program included several thematic sessions:

• “From data to recommendations: Applying data collection and analysis for the development of higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina” – HEA representative
• “From data to policy: Using data in higher education for development, planning and monitoring” – representative of the Ministry of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton
• “Data Management in the Croatian Higher Education System: ASHE Experience” – ASHE representatives

In the afternoon, participants worked in groups, exchanging institutional experiences, challenges and examples of good practices. The results and conclusions of the working groups were subsequently presented, further enriching the workshop with practical value.

The event concluded with a meeting of the Quality Committee and a closing address by HEA representatives.
