The new academic year has begun at the University of Zenica

The new academic year 2025/2026 began today at the University of Zenica for 679 freshmen enrolled in the University's faculties. Unlike previous years, the freshmen welcome was organized at the faculties themselves, where students had the opportunity to meet the teaching staff and colleagues with whom they will share the next years of study.

The Rector of the University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Sc. Jusuf Duraković, visited four faculties and addressed first-year students. In his address, he emphasized the importance of studying, education, and creating new opportunities — not only for the personal and professional development of students, but also for the progress of society as a whole, and, as he emphasized, “for a better Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

One of the key messages from Rector Duraković was that, in addition to formal education and acquiring knowledge, upbringing and education also play an important role, and that only the combination of these two segments can bring true results and success.

The Rector also expressed satisfaction that young people decided to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina and continue their academic education at the University of Zenica.

In addition to the first cycle, 152 candidates have applied for the second cycle (master's) this year, and enrollment is still ongoing. Classes in the second cycle will begin next week.

The University of Zenica continues its development and strengthening of higher education in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, confirming its role as an important center of knowledge, research and academic excellence.
