The Rector of the University of Zenica hosted Ahmed Krnjić
The Rector of the University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Duraković, today hosted Ahmed Krnjić, a prominent athlete and member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national boxing and kickboxing team. During the meeting, they discussed the importance of connecting sports and education, as well as the possibilities of cooperation between the University of Zenica and successful athletes and sports associations.
Ahmed Krnjić has achieved an impressive series of results in recent months within the framework of WBC Boxing Grand Prix in the heavyweight category – after victories against Yordy Valenzuela Santos, Davide Brito and Tsotne Rogava, Krnjić defeated South African Keaton Gomes in the semifinals of the tournament in Riyadh and advanced to the big final, which will be held December 20th in Dubai. The winner of the final gains the status of mandatory challenger for the belt. WBC Silver Heavyweight Title. After a streak of six victories, Krnjić now ranks 25th in the official World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight rankings — a historic achievement for Bosnian boxing.
They were presented at the Ceremonial Academy of the University of Zenica in October 2019 Rector's Awards for the best scientific, research, professional, artistic and sports achievements of students, and among the awardees was Ahmed KrnjicThis fact shows that the University of Zenica recognizes, appreciates and supports the achievements of its students in all fields.
Rector Duraković congratulated Krnjić on his successes so far and expressed support for his future plans, while Krnjić thanked the University for its continued support and recognition of the importance of sports achievements as part of academic excellence.
