The third session of the Rector's Assembly/Rector's Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held

At today's session, the Rectors' Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina supported the efforts of the Committee for Roma at the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to establish a Department of Romani Language and Literature at public universities. The chairman of that committee, Dervo Sejdić, who is with the representative of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adnan Jasik, and others. of Philological Sciences, Hedina Sijerčić, presented the "Framework Action Plan for the Educational Needs of Roma/Roma Women 2018-2022". year", which was prepared by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he pointed out that, through the presentation of that document, they talked about standardization and textbook literature for studying the Romani language.

- What is most important, the Romani language, when it is introduced - whether in universities or primary schools, should be studied by all those who want to.

- We received support, which is what I expected. When you talk to experts in the trade, they understand you very easily and support what you want.

I am really happy that I had the opportunity to talk with the rectors of the universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina - said Sejdić, who expressed the hope that soon all citizens will have the opportunity to study the Romani language.

He pointed out that he is particularly pleased with the fact that at this moment in public BiH. more than 50 students of Roma nationality are studying at universities.

Dr. Sijerčić believes that it is necessary to open a Chair for Romani language and culture because of the need to train teaching staff, who could adequately transmit knowledge "about the Romani language, culture, history, literature and everything that makes up the field of Romani studies and Romology".

Rector of the University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar prof. Ph.D. Elvir Zlomušica, after the presentation of the Roma representative, points out that he felt small and shaken that this people is not in better conditions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- In any case, that will be one of the conditions for joining European integration.

Rectors of public universities and all public universities in BiH have given open, unreserved support to finding different ways to improve the lives of Roma and the Roma community in BiH - emphasized Zlomušica.

He added that they came to the conclusion that, at one of the next conferences, they will also discuss the exact indicators for the operationalization of that process, because that data was not presented to them today.

Rector of the University of Zenica and current president of the Rector's Conference of BiH Prof. Dr. Damir Kukić noted that today they also analyzed teaching processes and were satisfied that, in the conditions of the pandemic, "they managed to maintain the quality that is necessary at all public universities and the University of Mostar". He also noted the continuation of good cooperation with the relevant ministries of the BiH Council of Ministers.

- In a way, we also achieved the continuity of lobbying for a different approach to taxation of non-independent or self-employed activities, that is, the engagement of external collaborators at public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

If such proposals for the law on amendments and additions to the Law on income tax in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were to remain, then numerous faculties would simply be closed - warned Kukić.

It is fortunate, he said, that this law has not been adopted so far, because it would have called into question the very spirit of higher education, the concept of mobility, and caused numerous financial problems for colleges and universities.

- There would be no development, strategic plans because, for each study program you open, you would have to hire all the necessary teachers. That is simply impossible - warns Kukić.

The new director of the Agency for the Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina, prof. Ph.D. Enes Hašić announced next month's thematic session of the Rector's Conference on the accreditation of study programs, which is also an obligation from the European integration process.
