A SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE IS HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY ON THE OCCASION OF THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SIGNING OF THE ZENIKA RESOLUTION AND 110TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF FADIL IMAMOVIĆ

The scientific conference "Civic activism and resistance to fascism as an expression of democracy and human rights - Eighty years since the signing of the Zenica Resolution and one hundred and ten years since the birth of Fadil Imamović" is being held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica. The organizers of the conference are the Bosnian cultural community "Revival", the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Mufti of Zenica and the University of Zenica, which today also played the role of host.

Before the very beginning of the conference of IZ reis-ul-ulema in Bosnia and Herzegovina, dr. Hussein ef. Kavazović and Prof. dr. Mevludin Dizdarević, Mufti of Zenički met with Prof. Ph.D. Jusuf Duraković, rector of the University of Zenica in his cabinet.

"I am using this opportunity to express my pleasure that today in Zenica I am attending the commemoration of eighty years since the signing of the Zenica Resolution and one hundred and ten years since the birth of Fadil Imamović." These are significant dates for us in the Islamic community, and we want to mark and point out the importance of what our ancestors did in the previous period and in some way commit ourselves to continue fighting in the same way for our homeland, for the rights of our people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and of course to oppose all those destructive forces that want to threaten our society and our existence in this area", said reis-ul-ulema dr. Hussein ef. Kavazovic.

Mufti Zenički prof.dr. Mevludin Dizdarević emphasized the historical significance of the Zenica resolution. Namely, "With the Zenica resolution, the Zenica Muslims and the Islamic community as a whole stood behind the unprotected, disenfranchised, behind the ethnic group that was targeted for genocide. It was the Zenica resolution that was signed in Sultan Ahmed's madrasa on May 26, 1942 that saved the Roma of Bosnia and Herzegovina from genocide and large-scale crimes. It is one of the most magnificent documents in the history of Zenica," said Mufti Dizdarević.

Today, at the University of Zenica, we remembered the character and work of Fadil Imamović, who, according to meritorious authorities, is considered one of the most significant figures in Zenica in the second half of the 20th century. With his intellectual and political work, he represented the backbone of the political and social work of Zenica and its surroundings.

"The University of Zenica is a co-organizer of this conference, which once again confirms the commitment of the University to cooperate with the social community, and in this case, it is the Mufti of Zenica and the Bosnian cultural community "Revival". This is an opportunity to somehow remember the people who have put this city in debt, and to remember the Zenica resolution and important names such as Fadil Imamović. This city gave birth to many beautiful and well-known names such as Kemal Kapetanović, Ezher Arnautović, and these people will be discussed at the University of Zenica in due course," said Prof. Ph.D. Jusuf Duraković, rector of the University of Zenica.

In front of the Bosniak Community of Culture "Preporod", the attendees were greeted by Prof. Ph.D. Ajdin Huseinspahić, and pointed out that "if the great European democracies have resolutions like Bosnia and Herzegovina have, and if they have names that spoke in times of evil and darkness, protecting their own lives, but also the lives of their neighbors, I believe that those democracies would erect monuments to them, and marked the days when the resolutions were signed as national days".
