The Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica and the TPO Sarajevo Foundation are pleased to invite you to register for a three-day summer school as part of the UNIGEM project, which is implemented at 19 universities. "Gender, law and justice", which will be held from 04 to 06 September 2024 in the premises of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica.
The summer school "Gender, law and justice" provides a unique opportunity for male and female students of law faculties from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro to become more familiar with the topic of gender justice and its impact on legal systems and society. The program will include interactive workshops, lectures and a trial simulation, which will enable participants to develop a critical understanding of the relationship between gender, law and justice.
Topics such as gender equality and justice, access to justice and sustainable development, recognition and analysis of cases of gender discrimination, and the application of international conventions such as CEDAW and the Istanbul Convention to combat gender-based violence will be addressed. Participants will work on the development of legislative proposals for the improvement of gender equality. Work methods include interactive workshops where participants will work in groups to analyze hypothetical cases and create legislative proposals, lectures by experts in the field of law and human rights, panel discussions with renowned lawyers and judges, and a trial simulation that will enable the practical application of acquired knowledge.
By participating in the summer school, male and female students will gain a deeper understanding of how gender roles and identities affect legal norms and processes. They will develop the practical skills needed to recognize and analyze gender aspects within the legal framework and to advocate for gender justice. Also, this is an excellent opportunity to network with students, as well as experts from the region, and exchange experiences and ideas. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate that confirms their acquired competencies and knowledge.
