08.02.2019. CIP AND MF UNZE: VISIT TO KONJIC HANDICRAFT COMPANY (GIZ-DTD_EU PRO-LOCAL)
In an effort to present the results of the project Development of an innovative process of education and networking in the field of wood processing in Central Bosnia (giz-dtd_EU pro-local), also in the most important companies outside ZDK and SBK, the head of the project team Prof. Dr. Darko Petković visited the company RUKOTVORINA in Konjic. Continuing the centuries-old tradition of its ancestors in the famous "equestrian woodcarving", this company has in recent years become one of the most important BH manufacturers of furniture. By combining what they have been doing for years with success (wood carving in various forms and furniture elements) with new contemporary designer wooden forms used by both eminent BH designers and designers from all over the world, they have come up with a unique range of products that today often wins the highest awards at famous world fairs and exhibitions. The momentum of the sector has been particularly significant in the last few years after this Herzegovinian craft and art became part of the UNESCO heritage. By creating a new brand line of products and the ZANAT company, the Nikšić family has made a new major step forward in presenting both its activities and positioning itself in the place of world-famous brands in this industry. With the host, production plant manager Nihad Zukić, B.Sc. we visited the factory and a particularly interesting part of the factory - the wood carving department. The combination of state-of-the-art CNC machines with manual processing and old master crafts is what adorns the Rukotvorine company. Ing. Zukić presented a series of interesting solutions that were made in these plants (chairs, tables, lamps, cutlery, trays, etc.). This was followed by a tour of the showroom in the town of Konjic, which is a combination of modern and old in the best form known today. Prof. Petković presented MF and CIP UNZE and IDEA_lab, IT design Lab and FabLab-laboratories. A short English dictionary for woodworkers was also presented. Prof. Petković asked the staff of RUKOTVORINA to help equip the IT design lab. The DTD study program was presented, with the expectation that, with solid cooperation with companies in the region, it will represent one of the most important resources for the future development of this sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prof. Petković especially presented the technology of 3D scanning and the importance it can have for HANDICRAFTS.
