An agreement was signed on the allocation of financial resources for the project "WORLD MOOT COURT COMPETITION IN INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL LAW /ICCMCC/ AT THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT AND STUDENT VISIT TO INTERNATIONAL JUDICIAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE HAGUE"

On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in the premises of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bosnia and Herzegovina, an Agreement was signed on the allocation of financial resources for the project WORLD MOOT COURT COMPETITION IN INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL LAW /ICCMCC/ AT THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT AND STUDENT VISIT TO INTERNATIONAL JUDICIAL INSTITUTIONS IN DEN HAGUE, signed on behalf of the University of Zenica and the Faculty of Law by prof. Ph.D. Dževad Zečić, rector and prof. Ph.D. Enes Bikić, dean. On behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Agreement was signed by Loes Lammerts, Deputy Head of Mission. The ceremonial signing of the Agreement was also attended by Lara Obrenović in front of the Embassy, as well as M.Sc. sc. Enis Omerović, in front of the Faculty of Law, in the role of project coordinator. A grant in the amount of approximately 50,000 KM was approved within MATRA, the Dutch program, which is part of the Dutch fund for regional partnerships of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Inače, the objective of the MATRA program is to contribute to social transformation, which would lead to a sustainable relationship between the government and its citizens, in the field of plural democracy, rule of law and human rights, using the Dutch experience where possible. The MATRA program is considered complementary to the policy of the European Union in supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in its process of pre-accession negotiations with the Union, with an emphasis on the development of democracy based on the rule of law.

University of Zenics and the Faculty of Law express their gratitude to the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. the leaders of the MATRA program at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who recognized the quality of the scientific project, i.e. the importance of its goals and purpose, in which approximately 50 students and professors of the Faculty of Law will have opportunity to visit the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the Peace Palace, the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the International Criminal Court in The Hague, while at the same time a team of 5 students will compete in the World Moot Court Competition in International Criminal Law at the International Criminal Court. It is worth noting that the Faculty of Law in Zenica is the only law faculty from Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in this prestigious competition.
