My Erasmus + experience – Lamija Gazić, Poitiers

The open call for a semester exchange at the University of Poitiers, which was published on our university website, meant collecting the necessary documents and enthusiastically writing a motivation letter. There are many reasons why I decided to apply for this competition. The scholarship offered by the Erasmus+ program was a unique opportunity for me to try my hand at studying at the second oldest university in France, which dates back to 1431.

Poitiers is a city where there are hundreds of international students from all over the world. Therefore, the reception organization itself is at an enviable level. Starting with preparatory documentation, organization of accommodation, and orientation and helping students to adapt as quickly and easily as possible in the new environment. This small town in the west of France is the epitome of a quiet student town with lots of young people who spend their time both at university and hanging out with friends. Therefore, it is clear that the process of fitting into this lifestyle is very simple.

The Faculty of Economics at the University of Poitiers has a wide range of opportunities for its students. Examples that are not used in our education, experiences and lecturers that can be seen and heard only there are some of the advantages of this exchange. Also, the faculty is very well equipped, and has several IT cabinets and reading rooms that are always available to students. The professors are extremely approachable and accommodating, and strive to include Erasmus students in teams and numerous projects with local students. In this way, a dynamic working atmosphere was created. Classes are held in English, which gives international students the opportunity to approach assignments more actively.

After spending four months in the west of France, I can say that all originally set expectations were exceeded. I made many new friends who are still an integral part of my life today. I got acquainted with new ways of learning and research. I gained new knowledge about French history, culture and language. In addition, I traveled to various cities in France, but also abroad, including Belgium and the Netherlands.

The Erasmus experience is much more than just studying abroad. It is an eye-opening experience for new possibilities. An experience that enriches each student as a person in many ways.
