Information about the defense of the doctoral dissertation of a colleague, V.AS.M.Sc. Edin Begović at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zenica

At the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zenica, on 07.12.2015. senior assistant, M.Sc. Edin Begović, before the Commission composed of Prof. Dr. Muhamed Mehmedović, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Tuzla, field: Production Technologies, President of the Commission; Prof. dr. Joan Vivancos Calvet, Barcelona School of Industrial Engineering (ETSEIB), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) – Barcelona Tech (UPC), area: Production technologies, member and Prof. Dr. Dr. hc Sabahudin Ekinović, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Zenica , field: Technologies, machines and tools for cutting, mentor and member, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Contribution to the analysis of technological, tribological-mechanical and exploitation characteristics of the white layer generated by the process of machining steel materials".
The doctoral dissertation in question is a continuation of previous research in the field of analysis of possible influencing elements on the characteristics of the resulting white layer. Unlike most research in which the formation of the white layer is observed on one or more standard materials, the research conducted in this doctoral dissertation is aimed at identifying the influence of individual chemical elements, as the primary structural components of each standard or non-standard steel material, on the formation and characteristics white layer. In this sense, the senior assistant M.Sc. Using the methodology of the planned experiment (Taguchi plan), Edin Begović produced eight non-standard steel materials, whose chemical composition changed according to the established plan-matrix, with controlled levels of the four (4) alloying elements C, Mn, V and Cr, and conducted experimental research using Taguchi methodology and the methodology of fractional experimental plans, processed the results and drew conclusions about the nature of the influence of the observed chemical elements on the formation and characteristics of the white layer.
The defense of the dissertation was enhanced by a large number of attendees, and we would like to highlight the presence of distinguished guests from the University Center for Electron Microscopy of the University of Maribor, as well as colleagues from the University of Sarajevo, the Metallurgical Institute "Kemal Kapetanović" and business entities from the surrounding area.

Part of the atmosphere from the doctoral dissertation defense is presented in the pictures.
