AWARDS PRESENTED TO THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE "CODESMASH HACKATHON" AT THE FACULTY OF POLYTECHNICS

Today, at the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Zenica, the awarding ceremony was held for the participants of the "CodeSmash Hackathon" student competition, which was organized by this faculty on April 26, 2021 in cooperation with the company Softray Solutions doo Sarajevo. In this competition, students of the Software Engineering department developed applications to support the vaccination process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year, the Polytechnic Faculty celebrates its tenth anniversary, and now it is already recognizable in the region for its high-quality study programs, and has grown into the faculty with the largest number of students at the University of Zenica.

This faculty pays special attention to student internships, so this year 27 students of the Software Engineering department did internships in the company Softray Soolutions doo Sarajevo.

This student competition was created as a result of that practice, and it turned out to be an excellent idea for solving concrete problems in society, especially in this time of the pandemic with the COVID-19 virus.

Rector of the University of Zenica, Prof. Ph.D. Damir Kukić, on his behalf, sent sincere congratulations to the awarded teams, as well as to the management of the Polytechnic Faculty for organizing and supporting such a concept of cooperation between educational institutions and the real sector, and the realization of student practice in this way.

"This is a typical example of the symbiosis of theory and practice in which all universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina should go, especially universities that have techniques in their field of interest. Last year, the Ministry recognized this type of teaching and in any case will continue to support, reward and stimulate it. This year, too, the Ministry has planned funds for awards to the best students, not only at this faculty, but also at other faculties where students win valuable prizes and in this way promote the society of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Prof. Dr.Sc. Spahija Kozlić, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Zenica-Doboj Canton.

As it was pointed out today, all competing teams developed applications that can be used in the vaccination process in the area of the canton, but also in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the expert jury had a difficult task when choosing the best solutions. "Now it is up to the competent cantonal and state institutions to recognize the importance of this application and express the need for it" - pointed out the dean Prof. Dr.Sc. Sabahudin Jašarević.

Other sponsors who supported the organization of the competition are: UniCredit Bank and the Institute for Health and Food Safety. In addition to these sponsors, as media sponsors, other Code Smash hackathon supported:
