Information from the meeting in Ljubljana on December 2, 2016. in connection with the ERC program for researchers

The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Slovenia, in cooperation with the European Research Council (ERC), organized the Regional Meeting of participants from the Western Balkans, in Ljubljana, on December 2, 2016. years.

The University of Zenica was represented at that meeting by the vice-dean for scientific and research work of the Polytechnic Faculty, acting professor Dr. Samir Lemes.

ERC is a program of the European Union to support scientific research projects within Horizon 2020, which is specific in that grants are awarded to individuals - top researchers, for projects lasting up to 5 years, in the amount of 1.5 to 2.5 million euros. The ERC mostly finances fundamental research (85%) and to a lesser extent applied research. In the previous ERC projects, there were most projects from the countries that invest the most in science: Great Britain, France and Germany, and the least from the countries of the Western Balkans. This is exactly why this meeting was organized, to encourage more researchers to submit their project ideas.
