The entry of foreign students and employees into Bosnia and Herzegovina is regulated by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina. To enter Bosnia and Herzegovina, you must have a valid identity card or passport. If you have an identity card or passport of a member state of the European Union (EU), you can enter our country for a stay of up to 90 days. For all other countries, please check the status of travel documents at the embassy or consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in your country. Citizens of third countries who live and stay in the EU and have a valid EU visa can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina for a short-term stay. Note: Students who come for educational purposes and stay longer than three months must also bring their passports.
Without a visa:
Citizens of the following countries can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina with a passport or a valid ID card that proves their identity and citizenship without a visa:
- Member States of the European Union
- Signatory countries of the Schengen Agreement
- Albania, Andorra, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Serbia, Holy See, Swiss Confederation, Turkey
