A final greeting to Prof. Dr. Željko Škuljević
Our dear professor,
our old friend,
You have never liked ceremonies, and this is why this last greeting of ours will not be at all ceremonial. You loved life more than anything, you lived it more than anything, and that's why we welcome you here and send you off with the hope that you will go to another better place, a place where you will live a different life of your own. We hope that you are now talking to your friends that you have talked to all your life, to poets and philosophers, that you are walking on the Elysian meadows, that you are in that eternity that we often talked about when we were hanging out. All your friends have come here to greet you one last time and say goodbye.
As the first philosopher from Zenica, you started the philosophical story in our city. We hung out with you, followed you, we spent great years together listening carefully to your lectures and participating in endless dialogues that you called "silk conversations". Your passion and openness prevailed in them, the beauty of living and your willingness to listen to the other and different. You drew it both from your being and from the philosophy to which you dedicated your life. And that philosophy was not empty, dry, it was not school and textbook, nor salon. She was life itself. All that remained in us and for many years we will carry our conversations and friendships, for many years we will still talk with you in ourselves.
Our dear friend, we will not forget you. And your shadow will always be hidden somewhere between us. We'll find some way to pass on to you, at least metaphysically, your testamentary book, Mindlessness, which you worked on until your death. We can dialogue about her one day when we meet - there.
To philosophize means to be on the road, so travel, travel, our dear friend...
