On this occasion, in the premises of the Rector's Office of the University of Zenica, a visit was made to the Delegation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Great Britain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, more precisely the Deputy Ambassador H.E. Mr. Neil Kavanagh with associates. The office for counseling in the field of gender equality was jointly opened by Prof. Dr. Jusuf Duraković, Rector of the University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Larisa Velić, dean of the Faculty of Law and coordinator of the Center for Gender Equality and Mr. Neil Kavanagh, Deputy Ambassador of Great Britain to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- UNZE is one of the leading universities that supports the gender equality project. After the opening of the Gender Equality Counseling Office located in the Rectorate, we signed an agreement on cooperation with the Center for Women's Rights in Zenica, said Jusuf Duraković, Rector of the University of Zenica.
Deputy Ambassador H.E. Mr. Neil Kavanagh emphasized in his address that the University of Zenica with its activities, especially the establishment of the Office for Gender Equality to support students and teaching and administrative staff, sets a positive example that other universities in the country could follow. It was emphasized that H.E. The Ambassador, as well as the entire Embassy of Great Britain in Bosnia and Herzegovina, are honored to have the opportunity to support such initiatives.
The office for counseling in the field of gender equality at UNZE will be coordinated by Prof. Dr. Anela Hasanagić, professor in the scientific field of psychology at the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy and Assoc. Dr. Aida Rizvanović, assistant professor in the scientific field of inclusion and coordinator of general, personnel and legal affairs at the UNZE Rectorate. Anela Hasanagić, psychologist and psychotherapist, emphasized that applying for counseling is anonymous, and that she will try to provide support to people who face gender discrimination in any way, as well as other information, counseling and support services.
At the meeting, Assoc. Dr. Dženana Radončić, as a member of the Center for Gender Equality, promoted Gender equality policies adopted with the aim of improving the current state of gender equality at the University of Zenica and contributing to factual, not just formal, equality between women and men, and equal representation in decision-making, scientific research, career advancement and all other related business and life segments. The Center for Gender Equality of the University of Zenica will continuously monitor the state of gender equality and will periodically report on the implementation of these Policies, in accordance with available statistical data classified by gender and other relevant, quantitative and qualitative indicators of gender equality.
The concluding activity was the signing of a cooperation agreement, by which the University of Zenica, the Center for Women's Rights Zenica and the Center for Gender Equality of the University of Zenica establish mutual cooperation within their competences, among other things through the possibility of cooperation and the exchange of personnel in an effort to increase the potential for research and education , then joint organization of scientific-expert gatherings and round tables, exchange of information, publications, literature, preparation and implementation of scientific-research projects, as well as implementation of joint activities and use of available resources for their implementation. The cooperation agreement was signed by the Rector of the University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Jusuf Duraković, dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica and coordinator of the Center for Gender Equality of the University, prof. dr. Larisa Velić, and the president of the Zenica Center for Women's Rights, Mrs. Meliha Sendić.
