PROF.DR.SC. LARISA VELIĆ, DEAN OF THE FACULTY OF LAW OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZENICA, APPOINTED JUDGE OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

In the center of public attention in Bosnia and Herzegovina in recent days is the appointment of a judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Namely, judge Seada Palavrić became eligible for retirement, and a competition for the appointment of a judge was announced.

After the Working Group completed the ranking and scoring, the list of candidates was published, with the current Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica, Prof. Dr. Larisa Velić, in first place. Yesterday, at a session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the appointment of Dean Prof. Dr. Larisa Velić as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was confirmed with 73 votes in favor.

Dean Velić has a truly impressive biography and career:

She completed her higher education, undergraduate studies, two state exams and doctoral studies in Germany, where she gained respectable and very significant knowledge and work experience while working as an intern at the Supreme Regional Court in Düsseldorf, and later in the legal profession.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the name of Prof. Dr. Larisa Velić is well known in the public, especially in legal circles where she is considered an expert in property law, and the public is particularly familiar with her views, work and research on the issue of state property. It is also important to note from her biography that for a number of years she was engaged as an educator at the Center for the Education of Judges and Prosecutors of the FBIH, served as the head of the legal department at GIZ (German Society for Technical Cooperation/German Society for International Cooperation), and was the deputy manager of the Project for Support to the Judiciary in BiH/Strengthening Prosecutorial Capacity.

Prof. Larisa Velić, PhD, was elected for the second time this year to the position of Dean of the Faculty of Law and Chair of the Senate.

The University of Zenica proudly points out that the appointment of Dean Velić as a judge of the Constitutional Court is another proof of the expertise and competence of our teaching staff.
