PROF.DR.SC. BELMA POJSKIĆ WINNER OF THE RECTOR'S CONFERENCE/CHOIR OF BIH

Today, a ceremonial session of the Rectors' Conference/Collection of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held at the "Džemal Bijedić" University in Mostar, where awards were presented to deserving members of the academic community.

At the proposal of the University of Zenica, the plaque was awarded to Prof. Dr. Belma Pojskić for the development of the university through outstanding work in the scientific, teaching and professional fields, and for expanding the reputation of higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Currently, according to valid database sources, he is the most cited author at the University of Zenica (4,313 Research Interest Score, 9,228 Citations, 12 h-index).

Prof. dr.sc. prim. Belma Pojskić, FESC graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, received her master's and doctorate degrees in Sarajevo. She is a specialist in internal medicine and a subspecialist in cardiology, with the title of European Cardiologist since 2004, "Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology- FESC" since 2005. She earned the title of primarius in 2003. So far, she has mentored several graduates, master's and doctoral students at the Faculty of Medicine in Zenica, where she is engaged in the title of full professor at the Department of Internal Medicine and as the head of the doctoral study.

She is a member of the European Society of Cardiology, the European Society for Atherosclerosis since 2005, BHAAAS (Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Sciences and Arts) since 2009. She is also a member of the Association of Cardiologists in Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been the president of this association since June 2024. She is an active member of the Medical Chamber of Zenica-Doboj Canton and was the long-standing president of the Education Commission. Since 2018, she has been engaged as an examiner in taking specialist and subspecialist exams in internal medicine and cardiology

He is the national representative in international projects led by European associations: EAS and ESC (EAS FH collaboration where he is a board member, ScreenPro FH, EORP).

During her previous work, she has attended several professional and clinical trainings and educations in the field of cardiology and angiology at reputable European clinics such as the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, Salzburg-Cornell Cardiology Seminars, Angers University Hospital in France, AKH University Hospital in Vienna, European Practicum in Clinical Ergometric Tests in Hungary, Good Clinical Practices Madrid, Wilhelminenspital University Clinic Vienna, etc.

His area of professional interest during his previous work is hypertension, atherosclerosis, angiology, and non-invasive diagnostic methods in cardiology and angiology.

From 1984 to 1987, she worked as a general practitioner at the Zenica Health Center, and since 1987, she has been employed at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital in the Department of General Internal Medicine as an internist-cardiologist and head of the department for many years, and since 01.01.2025. she has been the assistant director. In addition to professional work on the improvement of internal medicine disciplines and the improvement of organization and management in this field, she has been continuously engaged in the education of trainee doctors and doctors specializing in internal medicine and cardiology as a mentor, senior colleague and manager.

So far, she has published or presented more than 250 papers (scientific and professional articles, textbooks, books, projects, studies, etc.) that have been published in medical journals or presented at various scientific and professional conferences and professional meetings in the country and abroad, of which 70 papers have been published in indexed journals.

She is an educator at several international lipidology courses in Europe, a reviewer in the journals Medicinski glasnik, Swiss Frontiers, papers for the European Congress of Cardiology, university textbooks, doctoral dissertations outside Bosnia and Herzegovina, guest editor of a chapter in Frontiers in Diabetes, a member of the Editorial Board of Medicinski glasnik and Bulletin, the journal of the Medical Chamber of Zenica-Doboj Canton. She was the head of several international studies at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital.
