Scholarship program of the Government of Romania for the academic year 2025/26. year
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Department of Public Diplomacy, Culture and Science, announced the launch of a scholarship program offered by Romania to foreign students for the academic year 2025/2026.
It is necessary to take into account the evaluation criteria, such as academic results and knowledge of one of the widely used languages. The fields in which scholarships are awarded are:
- architecture,
- Art,
- Romanian culture and civilization,
- journalism,
- Political and administrative sciences,
- Educational Sciences,
- Humanities studies,
- Technical studies,
- Oil and gas,
- Agricultural Sciences,
- Veterinary medicine
It is important to note that scholarships are not awarded for medicine, dentistry and pharmacy.
Levels of study covered by scholarships
Candidates can choose the following levels of study:
- Bachelor,
- Master,
- PhD
Required documents for application
It is necessary for each candidate to create an account exclusively on the Study in Romania platform (https://studyinromania.gov.ro/) or on the platform (https://scholarships.studyinromania.gov.ro) and then to fill in the required data and upload the following documents:
- Copies of degrees obtained (baccalaureate degree or its equivalent, plus bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctorate, if applicable) and their certified translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
- Copies of transcripts of completed studies and their authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
- Copy of birth certificate (or equivalent document) and certified translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
- A copy of the first three pages of your passport or national identity document and a certified translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
- Curriculum vitae in English or French in the required format and for the doctoral cycle also a letter of intent from the applicant in English, French, Spanish or Romanian.
- For the doctoral cycle of studies, interested candidates are required to submit a letter of intent containing a list of scientific papers, specialized publications, with detailed descriptions of proposed research projects, as well as an agreement with a tutor who must be a member of the chosen higher education institution. All documents must be written in English and French or Romanian.
The application will also include the following documentation (only for those candidates who belong to
to a separate category that are listed for each document):
- Copy of proof of name change (if applicable) and certified translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
- a copy of the certificate of passing the matriculation, diploma or master's exam, as the case may be, for graduates who do not yet have a diploma and a translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
- A copy of the certificate proving that the person in the final year of studies takes the matriculation exam at the end of the school/college year and an authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
- A copy of the transcript confirming the academic record of the person in the final year of study, up to the moment of application submission, and a certified translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
- Copy of the certificate of completion of the preparatory year for the Romanian language or a certificate of language proficiency, if applicable.
- A copy of a certified statement of parental consent in the case of candidates who have not reached the age of 18 by the date of commencement of classes and a certified translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
Original documents must be scanned individually in PDF format
Costs covered by scholarships
Scholarships cover the following costs:
- Financing the costs of the preparatory year,
- Tuition,
- Accommodation (in student dormitories),
- Monthly cash compensation.
The scholarships do not cover the costs of international and domestic transportation from the Romanian border crossing to the university. In this regard, candidates must be prepared to personally support additional expenses.
Deadlines
The deadline for submitting applications is March 12, 2025, incomplete applications will not be considered, selection results will be announced by June 30, 2025Upon completion of the selection, additional formalities, such as obtaining visas, are mandatory.
