Visit of representatives of the University of Pécs and representatives of the Hungarian Embassy

 

On Wednesday, 17.05.2017. The University of Zenica was visited by representatives of the University of Pécs, representatives of the Hungarian Embassy and representatives of the city of Pécs. On that occasion, a reception was organized in the Office of the Rector, Prof. Ph.D. Dževad Zečić, as well as the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the University of Pécs and the University of Zenica. This visit represents the continuation of cooperation between the two universities and the realization of the conclusions from the meeting held on February 22, 2017. year, when it was agreed to sign the aforementioned Agreement.

The cooperation agreement between the University of Pécs and the University of Zenica envisages cooperation between these two higher education institutions in terms of exchange of teaching staff, mutual support in studies and research, both at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral level, joint organization of courses, seminars, conferences , joint application for projects financed by governments and the European Union, and exchange of administrative and professional staff.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Ph.D. Dževad Zečić, rector on behalf of the University of Zenica and prof. Ph.D. Bachmann Bàlint, Dean of the Technical Faculty on behalf of the University of Pécs.

After the signing of the Agreement, separate working meetings were held: a working meeting of representatives of the medical faculties of both universities and representatives of the Clinical Center in Pécs and representatives of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital in the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, and a working meeting of representatives of the technical faculties in the Rector's office. In order to initiate cooperation activities between the city of Pécs and the City of Zenica, and to implement the "Green City" project, a meeting was held with representatives of the City of Zenica.

During the meeting at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital, the participants discussed the possibilities of cooperation in various fields with an emphasis on cooperation in education and scientific research. This is an exceptional opportunity for the development of one of the youngest and one of the oldest medical faculties in the region.

The representatives of all four institutions agreed on the priorities of future cooperation, namely:

  • Exchange of teaching staff and students (increasing mobility)
  • Cooperation in the field of scientific research work in the field of medicine and health sciences
  • Joint application for EU funds in the field of medicine and health sciences
  • Development support in KBZ on the way to the University Hospital
  • Support in the improvement and development of the curriculum in the field of medical and health sciences
  • Development of other types of scientific and professional cooperation between these two institutions.

At the working meeting of representatives of the technical faculties of both universities held in the Rector's office, it was concluded that there is a mutual interest in the Erasmus + program, and it was proposed to sign a protocol that would cover all study programs that exist at both universities. It was agreed that in the next call for applications to EU projects, potential opportunities will be looked at, and that both universities will be included in the applications as partners. The interests of the University of Zenica are energy efficiency and ecological engineering (continuation of RESI), student entrepreneurship (continuation of IDEA-lab), development of the university ranking system, development of the Alumni network, etc.

The representatives of the University of Pécs expressed their willingness to offer their technical faculty staff through the mobility program for the complete PhD cycle, which is planned to be organized at the University of Zenica.

In the administration of the City of Zenica, the delegation was hosted by the Mayor and his associates. During the meeting, the representative of the City of Pécs also presented the Green City project in which the city of Pécs participates, after which the attendees discussed the possibilities of the City of Zenica's participation in the aforementioned project, as well as other forms of cooperation. It was agreed that the representatives of the two cities will define specific steps, priorities and potentially start preparing applications for EU funds in the coming period.
