Zenica's strength in knowledge and sports: The silver generation of students excelled at the Ekonomijada 2025

At the prestigious Economy Day 2025, held in Budva, students Faculty of Economics, University of Zenica have once again shown that they belong to the very top of academic and sporting excellence in the region. Among more than 2,000 participants and over 20 faculties from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia and North Macedonia, they were young economists from Zenica shone as one of the brightest examples of success.

Silver in knowledge - proof of continuity of quality

In the extremely demanding knowledge category, where six teams participated, Zenica students won second place, confirming that the title of last year's champions was no coincidence. This year's team consisted of: Adnan Spahic, master's student at the Department of Accounting and Auditing and Adin Bliznovic and Munir Mujcic, final year undergraduate students in the Department of Finance and Accounting.

The theme of this year's competition was "Regenerative tourism as an economic strategy for the Western Balkans"The teams were tasked with selecting a location with potential for the development of regenerative tourism, analyzing the current economic situation at that location, designing a strategy for transitioning to regenerative tourism, developing a business model, and assessing the economic impact and feasibility of the idea, including budgeting.

The conceptual solutions were presented before the expert committee from Universal Capital Bank from Podgorica, which scored both the content of the idea and the manner of presentation, and students from Zenica showed maturity, knowledge and team spirit.

The member of the committee singled out the Zenica team with the words: "Whenever I'm at Ekonomijada, Zenica is the first or second place. Kudos to the professors who work with you - you're great."

And on the sports fields – Zenica is at the very top

Ekonomijada is not only a festival of knowledge - it is also an arena of sportsmanship. And here the students from Zenica showed their strength and togetherness.

In discipline Basketball 3×3, the team consists of Vildan Hodzic, Anes Hodzic, Eman Haskic and Adnan Spahic, she won second place, narrowly losing in the final to the team from Ljubljana with a score of 15:12.

U indoor soccer, the Zenica students passed the group stage with a win against Zagreb and a draw with Osijek, and then qualified for the semi-finals. Although they were minimally defeated by Ljubljana (1:0), they finished as the fourth best team of the tournament – another valuable result.

Community that drives - support that creates success

These great results would not be possible without the support of those who believe in young people. Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton and Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports ZDK they enabled co-financing of accommodation and food costs, while University of Zenica financed the transportation costs.

These students are not just representatives of one faculty - they are ambassadors of an idea: that BiH can have a future based on knowledge, work and cooperation.
