24/02/2016 iDEALab of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of UNZE: a "written off" ECG device enabled by reverse engineering

Given that the main goal of the Tempus project iDEAlab is to create prerequisites for the development and strengthening of cooperation between universities and industry through open innovation, we are pleased to present the successful cooperation of UNZE's iDEAlab located at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Cantonal Hospital Zenica.

Namely, in the test phase of the equipment for the future laboratory iDEALab at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zenica, v. asst. M.Sc. Denis Spahić, laboratory coordinator, successfully solved the problem of a non-functioning cover with a lever of one of the EKG devices of the Zenica Cantonal Hospital. Through the process of reverse engineering - recording measurements and creating a 3D computer model, the disputed part of the EKG device was remade on the laboratory's 3D printer and successfully replaced the function of the broken original.
