3.11.2017. CIP UNZE: PROF. JONES LECTURE FROM STANFORD UNIVERSITY

Organized by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIP) and the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo, a three-hour workshop was held on Friday, November 3, 2017, in the reading room of the Metallurgical Institute, which was prepared and led by prof. Ph.D. Melissa Jones Briggs of Stanford University (www.gsb.stanford.edu/faculty-research/faculty/melissa-jones-briggs), where he teaches Organizational Behavior. As it is an interesting topic, and to the great satisfaction of the organizers, the workshop aroused the exceptional interest of the students and academic staff of UNZE and was attended by about 80 interested people. Prof. Ph.D. Jones emphasized that the issues in these areas, which people face in business and private life, are more or less the same everywhere, regardless of whether it is the USA or Bosnia and Herzegovina. With us, topics from the field gender and leadershipand they are just getting the attention they deserve, therefore the workshop was a unique opportunity for students to hear new information and learn about tools that can serve them both in life and work, regardless of their studies and narrower field of interest.

The organizers hope that this is just the beginning of cooperation, and among the first ideas for further engagement is, among other things, the transfer of American practice in terms of organizing regular training on the so-called unconscious biases ("unconscious biases"), which are mandatory for all employees of leading American institutions, including academic ones (e.g. famous universities: Harvard, Stanford, MIT, etc.), and which are unknown here.
