Business mission and B2B meetings with foreign companies

The Faculty of Economics of the University of Zenica was the organizer of the Business Mission and B2B meetings with foreign companies within the framework Competitive Business Based Export and Training Service Centre (COBETS) of the project of the EU ProLocal program for local self-government and economic development, financed by the European Union and the Government of Germany, and implemented by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), which took place in the period from  June 18 – June 20, 2018. years.

On June 19, 2018, a reception was organized for guests from the Republic of Serbia in the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zenica, which included the representative of the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Šumadija and Pomeranian administrative districts, Dušan Petković, coordinator for agriculture, professors of the Faculty of Economics in Kragujevac, Prof. Dr. Srđan Šapić, assistant professor, Ph.D. Vladan Ivanović and Prof. Dr. Srđan Furtula, as well as representatives of the economy.

The delegation was hosted by Prof. Ph.D. Damir Kukić, Rector of the University of Zenica and Assoc. Ph.D. Alaudin Brkić, dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Zenica, with Prof. Ph.D. Enes Hašić, vice-rector for teaching and student affairs, Prof. Dr.Sc. Hasan Mahmutović, vice-rector for finance and development, and Prof. Dr. Darko Petković and M.Sc. Jasmina Džafić. The meeting discussed the potential of ZDK in the field of wood processing and the capacities of the University of Zenica in participating and providing support to businessmen from our environment in the development of the wood industry. The guests, on the other hand, presented the capacities of their region and the cooperation between the University of Kragujevac and the businessmen of the region. They also discussed cooperation between the two universities and solving problems in the field of education, and the connection between education and the economy, which are jointly recognized as key problems for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia. The exchange of experiences with foreign partners is particularly important for the University of Zenica, especially now that the "Design and Technologies in Wood Processing" studies are being formed at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zenica.

Representatives of the University of Zenica and guests then visited the Chamber of Commerce of ZDK Canton and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of ZDK.

In the afternoon, lectures on the following topics were held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zenica:

  • "Choosing the country of entry of wood processing companies and determining market share", Prof. Dr. Srđan Šapić, Faculty of Economics, University of Kragujevac,
  • "The state and perspectives of the development of the wood processing industry in the Republic of Serbia", Assoc. Ph.D. Vladan Ivanović, Faculty of Economics, University of Kragujevac,
  • "Financing of wood processing companies", Prof. Dr. Srđan Furtula, Faculty of Economics, University of Kragujevac.

In the breaks between lectures, B2B meetings were held between businessmen from Bosnia and Herzegovina, businessmen from the Republic of Serbia, representatives of the University of Zenica and representatives of the University of Kragujevac.

On the third day of the visit, the guests had the opportunity to visit and tour the facilities of the "Kemal Kapetanović" Institute in Zenica and significant sights of the City of Zenica.
