Programming languages in schools and colleges

Informatics curricula, especially programming, in primary and secondary schools, as well as in colleges, are mostly outdated, and do not prepare pupils and students for the labor market, which is dynamic and has changed a lot in recent years. In many schools, they are still taught Pascal, Basic, Fortran and similar programming languages that are no longer used by the modern labor market. Few are those who dare to surrender Python, Javascript, Ruby, and new technologies like Angular, Laravel or Unity they are mostly not even mentioned.

The aim of this panel discussion is to answer the following questions:

• On which programming languages should programming lessons be based in primary, secondary schools and colleges?
• Which programming languages does the labor market demand today and which will it demand in the near future?
• Which programming languages will pupils and students master more easily?
• How to train teachers for innovative teaching of programming?
