Held training on the use of microsimulation models in public finance research

On Monday, 17.06.2019. At the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zenica, a training session was held on the use of microsimulation models in public finance research.

"Microsimulation models are advanced software tools used to assess the effects of changes in policies, programs and projects, in order to gain knowledge about the expected effects of such proposals before their implementation. The aim of these microsimulation models is to obtain quantitative results on the basis of empirical data and calculations, on the basis of which it should be discussed and how certain laws in the field of taxes and social benefits should be changed", said Mr. Nermin Oruč, director of the Center for Development Evaluations and Social Research and member of the team for the development and maintenance of the BiMHOD model, which was developed in cooperation with the University of Essex.

Ph.D.Sc. Dženan Kulović, vice dean for scientific research and international cooperation of the Faculty of Economics, said that cooperation with this partner and today's training are of great importance not only for students of economics and other social faculties, but also for creators of social and economic policy, especially at the Cantonal level. . Second-cycle students and students working on doctoral theses largely use different research tools, and the microsimulation model can be very useful for those students who intend to do their work in the areas of economic policy making, social policy and public finance programming.
